Recently, and for the first time ever, I found myself in a place and in a time which allowed me to clearly see our Milky Way's galaxy. This moment is what inspired this diptych.  

 

The frame of film in the first image is the subtle yet beautiful image of that night sky. It is a documentation of the light that I saw, which traveled unabridged and uninhibited, an unfathomable distance, across an incomprehensible amount of time and space, simply to land in my eyes and on my film. 

 

What a magnificent journey indeed with such a simple and humble ending. It felt all at once as if the entire universe was looking down upon me. Yet at the same time, I realized what an absolutely divine privilege we have to reach far into the eternities in the life to come after this brief, humble, mortal existence. As the infinity of the universe shines upon us, it reflects the infinity of our eternal potential.
